Auto Accidents

Auto accidents kill thousands and cause debilitating injuries to millions of Americans every year. These auto accidents ruin countless lives and devastate an untold number of American families. The physical hardship and financial wreckage caused by these traffic accidents cannot be described unless you have lived through it. Swelling medical and treatment expenses and loss of wages can lead to aggravation and uncertainty in any household. The frustration, adversity, and misery caused by an auto accident can deal a fatal blow to any family left reeling in its wake.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2007 there were 41,059 fatalities in the U.S. due to auto accidents. The National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA) estimates that 31.7 percent of those were due to alcohol-impaired drivers. That equals 12,998 deaths just from alcohol related traffic accidents.

The NCSA complied data for the NHTSA in the Traffic Safety Facts Research study to determine the ages of the above-mentioned 41,059 fatalities. The study found that:

  • Five percent or 2,177 victims were under the age of 16
  • Thirteen percent or 5,659 victims were between the ages of 16 and 20
  • Eleven percent or 4,708 victims were between the ages of 21 and 24
  • Seventeen percent or 7,185 victims were between the ages of 25 and 34
  • Fifteen percent or 6,395 victims were between the ages of 35 and 44
  • Twenty-four percent or 10,429 victims were between the ages of 45 and 64
  • Fourteen percent or 6,045 victims were over the age of 65
  • The age of one hundred ten victims were not known

Injuries suffered in an auto accident can leave a victim with debilitating and incapacitating injuries that can seriously hinder the lives of everyone around the victim. An auto accident attorney can help the victim of a traffic accident recuperate lost wages, medical expenses, the costs of rehabilitative treatments, damages for pain and suffering, as well as other expenses associated with the injuries of an auto accident. Consult with an experienced auto accident attorney to know exactly what compensation you are entitled to for your injuries.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) estimates that nearly 300,000 Americans suffer incapacitating injuries every year as a result of traffic accidents. Auto accident attorneys can help a majority of these victims recover damages for their pain and suffering.
