If a loved one is killed by the fault of another,  the question is who has the authority to bring a claim. Although there are many potential beneficiaries such as a spouse, parent ,child, sibling, even grandparents, and  grandchildren , almost anyone related by blood or marriage, but only one person can bring the claim. This is the person appointed by probate court to administer the dead person's estate. In the case of a married person the spouse has the priority over anyone else.

So remember there is a difference as to who can be compensated for the wrongful death of a loved one and who will have the right to present the claim.
