Police Departments around the country are joyously welcoming additional revenue from the Obama administration’s stimulus package. Several states have received money for public projects, including, but not limited to:
- Schools
- Highways and Bridges
- Transit Operators
- Additional State and Community Needs
Virginia law enforcement officials have received $40 million. They said that they will spend the money by hiring new, diversified officers and updating their technology. Virginia has been experiencing one of its all-time lowest crime rates, and law enforcement officials expect that the extra money will allow them to keep up their momentum.
Maine will use $9.6 million to crack down on drug crimes. It also wants to hire new officers and utilize new technologies to better protect its communities.
