Is the Credit Crunch Causing an Increase in Divorce Rates?

The U.S Government releases an official report on the trends in divorce rates. Unfortunately, the last data that we have is from 2005, so its a little out of date.

Stands to reason that a slower economy and financial difficulties add stress to a marriage (in fact, I'm pretty sure I remember an assertion from the priest that married us that financial difficulties were the #1 reason for martial discord).

So, I started searching for evidence that might shed some light on recent divorce rates trends.  I came across this piece from the Irish Times.  It appears as if divorces among the "super-rich" (that is, couples with a net worth in excess of $10 million) are up 20% in the last 12 months.

It makes me wonder  . . . for us "normal" folk . . . you know those that don't have estates of over $10 million, are our marriages faring better or worse than the super-rich?  I guess we can wait another 3 years for the government report . . .
