Will, Member of William P. Godsman Attorney At Law

William (“Will”) Godsman was born and raised in western Michigan.  He attended the University of Michigan, receiving a bachelors and masters degree in industrial and operations engineering.  His graduate studies emphasized human factors and safety engineering.  He attended law school at the University of Denver, graduating in 1981.

After graduation Will worked at a prominent civil litigation law firm for fifteen years, where he became a named partner.  In 1997 Will opened his own practice, in part, to be better able to control the number and types of cases to pursue.  By doing so, he is able to provide hands on work on all the cases he accepts.

Will is one of only a small number of lawyers in Colorado who has obtained a verdict in a medical malpractice trial of over a million dollars.

For over 20 years Will has been the editor of the Tort and Insurance Law Column of The Colorado Lawyer, which is the professional monthly publication of the Colorado Bar Association.

When you retain Will, he is the attorney who will be working on your case.  It will not be assigned to a junior associate. Will’s practice focuses on personal injury claims, such as motor vehicle, slip and fall, and skiing accidents, and medical malpractice claims.

Experience

William P. Godsman Attorney at Law, (Denver, CO)

Owner, 1997 - present

Even before graduating from law school Will acted as a law clerk for a large firm in Denver. It was during that time that he made two professional decisions. The first was that he did not wish to work in a large law office. The other was that he enjoyed his work on cases where the firm represented an individual in a claim against a large insurance company. This usually arose in the context of a personal injury claim.

After graduation Will began working for a small law firm that primarilly represented individuals in their personal injury claims. These claims included automobile accidents, skiing and chair lift accidents, injuries from dangerous products, premises liability and medical malpractice. While working for the firm Will handled hundreds of cases and went to trial many times on many types of cases. Over the course of the fifteen years Will worked at that firm, it became one of the prominent personal injury law firms in Colorado and Will became a named partner.

In 1997, after working for the same firm for fifteen years, Will decided to open his own firm. One of the major reasons for doing so was to allow him to select the types and number of cases he would accept.

Since "going out on his own" Will has continued to represent individuals who have suffered personal injuries due to the neglegence of others. During that time Will became one of the few lawyers in Colorado to try a medical malpractice case and obtain a verdict in excess of one million dollars.

For over twenty years Will has been the volunteer editor of the Tort and Insurance Law Column of the Colorado Bar Association's monthly professional publication, The Colorado Lawyer. In that capacity, Will assists authors writing articles for The Colorado Lawyer on various aspects of Colorado personal injury, property damage and insurance law.
