John McNally earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1966. He served on active duty as an officer in the United States Navy from 1966 until 1970. In 1970, he began the study of law at the University of Virginia School of Law, graduating in 1973.
Upon graduation, John practiced law in Alexandria, Virginia and Washington, DC, specializing in litigation. In 1987, John was among a select group of lawyers in the country to receive the highest rating for practicing attorneys (“AV”) from the nation’s preeminent rating service for lawyers, the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Martindale-Hubbell develops its ratings by soliciting confidential opinions from practicing lawyers and judges. Lawyer ratings have appeared in this directory for more than a century.
In 1989, John and his family moved to Vermont where he was offered a partnership in a firm practicing in Vermont and New Hampshire. John practiced commercial and personal injury litigation for the firm in New Hampshire and Vermont until that firm dissolved in 1999. In 2000, John formed his present firm and continues to focus on litigation.
In the 30 years that he has been practicing, John has handled business lawsuits ranging from insurance fraud cases to construction disputes to anti-trust cases, and he has also been responsible for numerous large plaintiff’s verdicts and settlements in personally injury cases in Virginia, Washington, DC, New Hampshire and Vermont.
