Whether you are suing or being sued, you will find that The Law Office of Larry R. Shockey is a full service law firm, representing clients in virtually all practice areas, except for immigration, divorce and bankruptcy proceedings.

In 2002, I left the big law firms behind to establish my own solo practice of law. The purpose was to enable me to tailor my practice to help the clients I was really interested in. Since then, I've represented many individual and small business clients, both as plaintiffs and as defendants in a wide range of areas: domestic violence defense, restraining orders, criminal defense (misdemeanors only), trade mark infringement, business torts, breach of contract, trip and fall cases, cruelty to animals, theft and conversion of personal property, unlawful detainer and wrongful eviction cases and many others.

Fee schedules are negotiated with clients to enable them to get the most representation for their dollar whether it is on an hourly, flat fee, incremental flat fee or contingency fee basis. Being small means my overhead is low, which enables me to keep the cost of my services to a minimum.

I believe that the merits of your case, not the size of your bank account, should determine whether your case is successful.

Often, the excellent legal representation necessary to achieve a good outcome is available only to wealthy people and large companies. My practice serves the people of San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa Counties as well as the greater Bay Area. I strive to make effective representation available to people of all walks of life, providing the same high level of service regardless of the fee arrangements with clients.

Unlike many attorneys, I strive to keep my clients informed of significant developments in their cases and actively involve the client as a participant in the case. I want to make sure that you, the client, acts as the decision maker in all of my cases.

San Francisco Bay Area residents come to the Law Office of Larry R. Shockey because I have a proven track record of achieving outstanding results for my clients. I strive to provide my clients with the personalized and attentive service that being small makes possible. I concentrate on your legal needs, providing you with a clear, understandable, and detailed analysis of the legal issues facing you.

I take the time to communicate directly with you in plain English about the complex legal procedures, problems, and economic risk factors that may affect the outcome of your case.

Fees and Costs
Fees are negotiated and tailored to your financial needs and comfort levels. In appropriate cases, fees may be payable as a flat fee or an incremental flat fee. A flat fee enables you to know with certainty how much your representation will cost, and are earned when paid. Some cases, such as appeals may be arranged on an incremental flat fee so you will always know how much each step of the process will cost.

Most cases are billed on an hourly basis with itemized monthly statements. On rare occasions, cases are accepted on a contingency (or percentage) basis. A modest retainer is required in most cases. This solidifies the attorney-client relationship.

Clients are asked to pay for costs as they are incurred. That way you will always know how much your case is costing as you go along so there won’t be any surprises at the end of the case. Major costs are always discussed with the client in advance. That way you play an important part of forming the strategy for your case.

Initial 30 minute consultations are free of charge. Although I do not accept credit cards directly, I can accept your credit card payments utilizing my PayPal account.
