Case History
Grandparent Custody
Practice Area: Divorce
Description: The parents of a child voluntarily surrendered custody to Children's Services due to substance abuse issues. At the request of the parents, the Paternal Grandparents were given full custody of the child.
Outcome: I represented the Maternal Grandparents who were eventually awarded 50/50 shared custody of the child.
Modification of Child Support
Practice Area: Divorce
Description: Father requested a modification of support because of the elimination of full time day care cost.
Outcome: Father did not have an attorney. I represented Mother. Mother's support award was actually increased because he failed to consider after school and summer care. Additionally, he did not realize that certain perqs of his employment counted toward his monthly net income.
Modification of Child Support
Practice Area: Divorce
Description: Mother filed for Child Support because Father claimed he was no longer able to pay the amount he had been paying her without an Order.
Outcome: While representing Father, I proved that his actual income was substantially lower than Mother believed because of Father's significant tax liability. Father was awarded a decrease in his support obligation, and Mother was required to provide him Health Insurance.
Name Change
Practice Area: Divorce
Description: Mother wanted to change the last name of her son because his Father was in prison, didn't pay child support and had no meaningful contact with his son.
Outcome: Father objected and a trial was held. I represented Mother, and the Court ruled in her favor.
