I am currently the managing partner of The Foret Law Firm. I am a litigator specializing in employment law representing employers and executive-level employees in state and federal court and before administrative agencies in a wide variety of employment-related matters including, but not limited to, theft of trade secrets, breach of employment agreements, non-competition agreements, wage and hour issues under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), discrimination and harassment issues under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII) and the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act (TCHRA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and NASD/FINRA employment-related dispute issues. In addition to litigating employment related disputes, I frequently draft and review company handbooks, employment agreements, severance agreements and non-competition agreements. I also provide litigation prevention advice to numerous companies. This advice includes developing and providing industry specific or issue specific seminars, as well as providing written material on various employment topics. You can view my employment-related articles periodically on www.hrresource.com.
In addition to my employment law practice, I handle insurance defense litigation, securities litigation and general commercial litigation matters in both state and federal court. I have been a litigator since 1992 and have litigated a wide variety of complex cases. Before relocating to Dallas, Texas in 1994, I worked as a staff counsel attorney for the Traveler’s Insurance Staff counsel office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where I handled a variety of general liability insurance defense matters as well as worker’s compensation cases.
Education
I received my law degree from Temple University Law School of Law in 1991 where I graduated cum laude. I served as Articles/Symposium Editor of the Temple Law Review, where I had an opportunity to organize and coordinate a symposium on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). I am Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Professional Background
After law school, I began my law career as a staff counsel for The Travelers Insurance Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At Travelers, I specialized in handling complex insurance defense and worker’s compensation cases. Since moving to Dallas, Texas in 1994, I have managed a diverse caseload that included insurance defense litigation, professional liability defense litigation, intellectual property litigation, and many aspects of Texas and federal employment law. My law practice is currently focused on assisting clients with litigation matters, and with various employment-related issues presented in today’s complex business environment.
