Managing Attorney, 2010 - present

I have represented Minnesota clients in the construction industry since 2004, from small subcontractors to large general contractors, in a large array of matters including defect litigation, lien foreclosure and defense, contract drafting and interpretation, and general liability insurance issues. While a large portion of my recent practice was dedicated to the construction industry, I have built a broad base of general legal expertise in civil matters over the past decade. Part of the purpose for starting this firm was to expand my client base beyond the construction industry and assist clients in a broader range of civil legal matters. I draw on an extensive background of business management and legal experience to assist clients in evaluating and resolving legal issues. I have assisted business clients with the formation and winding down of business entities, consulted on contract issues, provided drafting services. I have reviewed and analyzed insurance coverage and risk issues for both businesses and individuals. I also spent a year working for the Bankruptcy Court, District of Utah, and have assisted clients whose legal issues touch on bankruptcy proceedings, both creditors and individuals seeking a fresh start.

Senior associate, 2004 - 2010

Primary counsel on over 80 files, representing clients in all aspects of civil litigation from pre-suit investigation and negotiation through mediation and trial, with emphasis on construction law (including defect claims, liens, and contracts), insurance law (including coverage and subrogation), personal injury, bankruptcy and general business matters. Actions taken include: • negotiated and drafted contracts for business-to-business and business- to-client use, • successfully negotiated and resolved 60+ matters ranging up to $2.5 M in damages • negotiated and drafted complex multi-party settlement agreements, • taken or defended over 150 depositions, • prosecuted or defended against 100+ motions in court, including research, drafting moving papers and oral argument.

From 1989 to 1996, held positions of Regional Administrator, Regional Marketing Coordinator and Asst. Regional Director before promotion to Regional Director;

Responsible for all business operations for southwestern U.S. region; generated and monitored annual budgets and revenue forecasts; recruited and managed staff of 12 employees, 90 contract workers and 120 campus representatives; developed and presented informational and marketing seminars requiring extensive travel and public speaking; devised and implemented strategies that expanded the client base and penetrated new markets; developed written marketing plans and promotional materials; nearly doubled the number of cities served, number of clients and total revenues.
