“When parents understand their options and focus on the future, it’s easier for them to make decisions that put their children’s interests first.”
Jamie L. O’Brien was admitted to the Michigan State Bar in 2001 and worked for five years as a research attorney for a Livingston County probate judge.
The court’s caseload of probate, family court and juvenile court cases helped Jamie hone her skills in communication and negotiation, always with a focus on helping the parties work together to reach the most productive resolution possible.
Jamie’s nonadversarial philosophy is a natural fit with Nichols, Sacks, Slank, Sendelbach & Buiteweg, a firm with a longstanding reputation for using a range of alternative dispute resolution approaches—mediation, arbitration and collaborative law—to reach fair, amicable settlements outside the courtroom.
Her community involvement includes service as Vice Chairperson of the executive committee for the Livingston County Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAP). A mother of two young children, Jamie believes strongly in the organization’s philosophy that education is key to helping prevent child abuse and neglect.
