Established in 2001 as an expansion of the existing legal practice of Rodney Mesriani, the Mesriani Law Group represents a new and unique way of approaching the practice of law. Mesriani Law Group is a full service law firm which is divided into several distinct and independent divisions, each of which specializes in a different branch of the law. Instead of one or two attorneys with a single specialization, Mesriani Law Group gathers together a team of top attorneys, each of whom specializes in a different facet of the legal profession. It is this approach of gathering a diverse group of elite lawyers that sets Mesriani Law Group apart from other firms.



Mesriani Law Group currently maintains divisions specializing in Business and Corporate Litigation, Personal Injury Litigation, Social Security Disability (SSD/RSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claims, and Employment/Labor Law. Each of these divisions is managed by an experienced advocate with years of experience in handling his or her chosen specialty. This insures that Mesriani Law Group can not only handle almost every client issue, but that each of those issues will be handled by an attorney that is an expert in their field.

Rodney Mesriani

Rodney Mesriani is the principal partner of Mesriani Law Group which has offices in Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, and Irvine.

Rodney Mesriani has spent years specializing specifically in four areas of law: Personal Injury; Business and Civil Litigation; Employment and Labor; and Disability. He is an experienced litigator and a skilled trial attorney.


Background


Mr. Mesriani received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from California State University Northridge prior to attending Southwestern School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate degree. He was admitted to practice law before the California Supreme Court and other lower state courts, United States District Court-Central District, and United State Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1996.


Rodney Mesriani was a full time Judicial Extern for Judge William J. Rea of the United States District Court, Central Branch in 1995. He was also a full time Extern for the Department of Corporations, State of California in 1994. He also received a Certificate of Honor for being the Best Writer during the Moot Court Honors Competition in 1994.


Rodney Mesriani has performed pro bono services over the years and has received a letter of appreciation from UN for his dedicated service and outstanding contribution to the development of the UN (NGO) International Association Educators World Peace, World Peace Marshal Arts Embassador Association, and UN News. He has also received a Certificate of Honor for his services and his name has been inscribed in The Golden Book of Jewish Unity.


Rodney Mesriani has attended hundreds of seminars and State Sponsored MCLE events over the years in order to be informed of the latest laws and litigation strategies, and to further hone his litigation and trial skills.

Yolanda Slaughter

Ms. Slaughter received her Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Corrections from California State University Long Beach. Ms. Slaughter attended Western State University College of Law where she received her Juris Doctor degree, graduating cum laude. She received Bancroft-Whitney American Jurisprudence awards in Property, Trust and Remedies.


Ms. Slaughter was a full time Judicial Extern for the Honorable Warren J. Ferguson, Senior Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Ms. Slaughter received the BLSA Distinguished Student and Public Service Scholarship in 1998. Ms. Slaughter also received the Dean’s/Board of Trustees’ Scholarship in 1998 and 1999.


Ms. Slaughter is an adjunct professor at Santa Ana City College with the Business Administration’s American Bar Association’s accredited paralegal program.


Ms. Slaughter has represented employees in a variety of employment related matters, including sexual harassment,discrimination based on age, race, sex, national origin, religion and disability, along with wage and hour violations, breach of contract and wrongful termination. She has appeared in state and federal court, and before administrative agencies including the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor and Standards Enforcement, and the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.


Ms. Slaughter has appeared in both state and federal court and is an experienced litigator, having successfully tried employment related matters, including sexual harassment and religious discrimination cases. Ms. Slaughter is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution, having assisted many clients in obtaining favorable resolutions to employment disputes through mediation and direct settlement negotiations.


Ms. Slaughter is admitted to practice in all state courts of the State of California and the United States District Court for the Central and Eastern Districts of California.

Zachary Cantor

Background

Zachary Cantor earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2005 at University of California in Santa Cruz, where he studied Philosophy and Politics. He later studied law at the University of West Los Angeles and obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 2009.

Mr. Cantor'€™s varied interests have made him strive to maintain balance within him self and his work: he embodies a rigorous work ethic partnered with imagination; he has structured goals coupled with spontaneity; he pays attention to detail while focusing on the bigger picture. Moreover, he views his personal growth as a dynamic process, rather than a linear accumulation of achievements.
Legal Work Experience

Mr. Cantor has extensive experience in legal work, having worked as investigator, law clerk and associate for various California law firms.

As investigator at Santa Cruz Public Defenders' Office, he worked closely with attorneys on several criminal cases at once. He utilized skip-tracing techniques to locate, interview and subpoena witnesses. He researched witnesses' and clients' background information; and he prepared and wrote testimonial reports of witnesses as well as assisted trial preparation, trial exhibits, and testified in court as to witness and client interviews, and case facts.

As a Summer Associate for Disney/ABC Television Group, he worked with attorneys, sat in on negotiations and meetings involving business and legal issues such as licensing, copyright infringement, chain of title, and litigation.

He also worked as law clerk for Bet Tzedek Legal Services where he was involved on projects regarding Kinship Care, Holocaust Reparations, Housing, and Government Benefits.

All his experiences in legal work have prepared him for the more rigorous and busy life as an attorney who has represented clients in all aspects of labor, employment and immigration law - €”including cases involving wage and hour laws, class action lawsuits, independent contractor status, wrongful discharge, discrimination, sexual harassment, employee handbooks and personnel practices, union contract negotiation and grievance/arbitration, entertainment law, and immigration visas. His work has included: drafting contracts; drafting pleadings; visa applications; discovery; law and motion; oral argument; depositions; mediation and negotiation; arbitration; and jury trial. Mr. Cantor has also written eight articles published in the Daily Journal - €”California'€™s largest legal publication.

Tracy Neal-Lopez

Education

Ms. Neal-Lopez attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature. She then attended Loyola Law School where she received her Juris Doctor degree in 2001.
Legal Work Experience

Since 2003, Ms. Neal-Lopez has been practicing law in all state courts of California and in the United States District Court, Central District. With her background in both state and federal court litigation, she was also able to work before the California Court of Appeals.

One of her primary achievements in her legal work before the California Court of Appeals was her handling of an appellate brief that successfully challenged assumption of risk doctrine in the case Lackner vs. North (2006) 135 Cal. App. 4th 1188.

That same year, she began working as an associate for Sands & Associates, where she stayed for four years.

In 2008, she continued her work as a legal associate, this time for Lawrence Segal, Attorney at law. Likewise, she worked in the said law firm for four years.

Her areas of legal expertise include handling employment and labor law cases, such as:

Wage and hour disputes
Restraint of trade

She is also a highly-regarded business and corporate law attorney, with extensive experience in litigating unfair business practices, privacy rights, and real estate-related cases.
