Charitable Leadership
Seymour Mansfield and his wife, Susan, were honored by Larry and Bonnie O'Shaughnessy at the World Premiere of the Basilica Holocaust Memorial Oratorio, for their leadership in the Catholic - Jewish interfaith activities. The Oratorio, titled To Be Certain of the Dawn, was commissioned by the Basilica of Saint Mary, and features a score by Stephen Paulus and libretto by Michael Dennis Browne. The Oratorio is rooted in themes and subjects of common interests in the interfaith community, written in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camps and the 40th anniversary of Nostra Aetate (In Our Times), a landmark Vatican II document that condemns blaming the Jews for the death of Christ.
