Jerard Weigler, Member of Lindsay Hart Neil & Weigler
Mr. Jerard Weigler is counsel to the firm, specializing in legal advocacy for children and the disadvantaged. He mentored generations of upcoming attorneys at Lindsay, Hart, Neil + Weigler, emphasizing the fundamental professional values that underlie old-fashioned lawyering: Sound analysis, hard work, honor and respect for others. He draws upon knowledge and experience gained over 50 years at the Oregon Bar.
Mr. Weigler has been a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) presenter on quality legal writing, insurance, products liability, maritime and torts law. He served as a member of the executive committee of the Pacific Northwest Admiralty Institute and on other committees of the Oregon State Bar Association.
He is a former assistant instructor at Yale Law School and clerked for several Oregon federal court judges. He studied philosophy and religion at Colgate University and flew jet airplanes in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Weigler helped to persuade the Oregon Legislature to fund the statewide Court Appointed Special Advocates volunteer program for young children caught up in the legal system. He served as a director of the Multnomah County Court Appointed Special Advocates. He was appointed by the Governor as a director of the Children’s Trust Fund of Oregon, and he was both a director and the president of Oregon Lawyers for Children.
