James Dumas, Member of Lindsay Hart Neil & Weigler

James Dumas represents local, regional and national clients in products liability defense and complex commercial litigation, which includes professional liability, consumer product liability, sex abuse and punitive damages defense work.

A partner at Lindsay, Hart, Neil + Weigler for over 20 years, James has tried more than 100 civil jury trials to verdict. These include trials involving landslides, chainsaws, breach of contract, forklifts, and high-profile cases on behalf of large national companies. James is a hands-on litigator in a wide variety of cases.

His career began as a deputy prosecutor in Oregon’s Multnomah County. After becoming a partner at Lindsay, Hart, Neil + Weigler, James was recruited by a large, national firm; and spent five years as an equity partner in its San Francisco office as a first-chair trial attorney defending high-exposure product liability cases. In addition to his active law practice, James was an instructor in health care law and ethics at City University for seven years.

He is a member of the Oregon State Bar and the California State Bar and is admitted to practice in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts of Oregon and California. James is a member of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. He received his J.D. at University of Oregon School of Law and his undergraduate degree at University of California Berkeley.
