Mr. Teakell now devotes his expertise to state and federal
criminal defense cases including white collar charges such as bank fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, insurance fraud, health care fraud, unauthorized access to computers, computer fraud, email fraud, telecommunications fraud,
embezzlement, bribery, credit card abuse, unauthorized access to credit cards, and extortion. Mr. Teakell also represents persons charged with significant drug trafficking and conspiracy cases, as well as violent crime charges such as kidnapping, manslaughter, aggravated assault, and sexual offense charges such as sexual
assault and on-line solicitation, as well as other misdemeanors and felonies cases.




Mr. Teakell also utilizes his experience as a former trial attorney for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") in white collar investigations and SEC investigations and suits.

John Teakell has a focused criminal law and securities background with over 25 years of court room experience. As a former federal prosecutor and former state prosecutor, he has a thorough knowledge of both federal and state crimes and both federal and state court systems. He has handled thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanors to federal death penalty cases. There is no case too complex for Mr. Teakell to manage. During his time as being a criminal defense attorney, he has not only obtained impeccable results but has also gained respect from fellow defense attorneys and prosecutors as well as many of the judges in both the state and federal courts. He has focused his practice on white collar crimes, drug crimes, violent crimes, sex crimes, and SEC suits.

Prosecution Experience


John Teakell was a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's office for over 12 years, mainly in the Northern District of Texas. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, he was designated to prosecute bank fraud cases, in addition to drug crimes and all other crimes. As an Assistant U. S. Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico, Mr. Teakell prosecuted major narcotic drug trafficking cases and federal death penalty cases. He has gained a tremendous amount of experience prosecuting all types of complex fraud cases, numerous drug trafficking cases, money laundering and federal death penalty cases including federal murder, murder of government witnesses, and carjacking resulting in death, as well as a variety of other types of federal and states cases.


Before John Teakell's service as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, he was an Assistant District Attorney for over three years. Mr. Teakell prosecuted all types of state offenses, such as drug possession, assault and battery, DWI and manslaughter, murder, thefts, and stolen property cases.


Securities Enforcement Experience


As Senior Trial Counsel for the Securities and Exchange Commission , John Teakell prosecuted civil enforcement actions of fraudulent schemes.
