Omar Vincent Melehy, Member of Law Office of Melehy & Associates
Vincent Melehy has been practicing law for 21 years. In 1987, he was appointed to Maryland's highest court as a Judicial Law Clerk. After his clerkship, he joined the civil division of the Maryland Attorney General's Office where, a year later, he was appointed Assistant Attorney General to the Maryland State Highway Administration. He spent the next six years defending the State of Maryland in complex civil litigation including tort, discrimination and condemnation actions and provided advice on employment matters.
In 1997, Vincent Melehy left the Attorney General's Office to begin his private practice. His emphasis is in employment, discrimination, civil rights, special education, business and condemnation law. Over the last eight years, Mr. Melehy has successfully represented many individuals in discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment and other employment cases in state and federal courts. Vincent Melehy has extensive experience in representing clients with EEO Complaints, including successfully representing clients at EEO Administrative hearings. He has counseled small businesses concerning their duties, rights and responsibilities regarding employees and business practices. In addition, he has handled numerous federal sector employee cases against numerous federal agencies.
Mr. Melehy has received the Martindale-Hubbell "AV" Rating and is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (MWELA). He is licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
