Oliver Herzfeld , Member of Joseph, Herzfeld, Hester & Kirschenbaum, LLP
Oliver Herzfeld is one of the founding members and partners of Joseph, Herzfeld, Hester & Kirschenbaum LLP. Before starting the firm, he served as the Chief Legal Officer for a high profile wireless software firm, w-Technologies, as well as General Counsel to a technology firm called Capco, which emphasizes solutions for financial services problems. Oliver also worked for J.P Morgan & Company as General Counsel for Licensing, Technology and Intellectual Property. Prior to this, he worked on a wide variety of corporate and securities matters for Sullivan & Cromwell.
In addition to being of counsel to Joseph, Herzfeld, Hester & Kirschenbaum, Oliver works as the Chief Legal Officer for The Beanstalk Group, an arm of the Omnicom Group (an agency that does consulting and licensing). Oliver is passionate about giving back to the community and participates in a variety of social service organizations. He does pro bono work for non profits and does volunteer mediation for a program called Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.
Oliver graduated Phi Beta Kappa from NYU’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences in 1984, where he was also honored as a Regents Scholar and a Dean's Honors List recipient. He received his J.D. from Columbia University in 1990, where he was named the Harlan Fiske Sloan Scholar.
He is a member in good standing of a variety of associations, including The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, MediateArt, and The National Employment Lawyers Association.
He has published some landmark essays as well on a variety of legal topics, including trademark licensing and the risks of using foreign manufacturers.
