Mac Irvin represents clients in labor relations and employment law matters. Mac has developed a positive approach to strengthening the employment environment and to crafting strategy and communications in resolving employment issues in matters ranging from union organizing and labor-management disputes to jury trials in federal and state courts.
Since the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1991 that makes jury trials common in employment litigation, Mac has served consistently as lead counsel in jury trials. He often advises clients regarding the unique issues relating to plant start-ups and plant closings and has counseled employers on developing and implementing policies to deal with issues such as substance abuse, reductions in force, and sexual harassment.
He attended the Harvard Mediation Workshop and and the Arbitration Institue; and is registered as an arbitrator and mediator by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. Mac arbitrates and mediates and disputes involving employment agreements, trade secrets, business dissolution, and claims of age, race, religion, sex, national origin, and disability discrimination. He is a former President of Atlanta Dispute Resolution Lawyers and served as Chairman of the Labor Law Section, Atlanta Bar Association. Mac currently serves as Chair of a Sub-Committee of the ABA Labor & Employment Law Ethics & Professionalism Committee entitled: Ethics in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Mac is certified as a specialist in Labor and Employment Law by the Florida Bar. He was selected in a poll of lawyers by http://www.superlawyers.com as a Georgia Super Lawyer during 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009. Member College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
