Hiring an Immigration Lawyer: Is It Worth The Cost?
Created On: 06/25/2010
In a digital society with online access to forms, instruction booklets and a plethora of research data, you may be wondering whether or not hiring an immigration lawyer to help meet your needs is worth...
Case History
Removal Defense - Adjustment of Status
Practice Area: Immigration Law
Description: Attorney Daneu successfully represented a spouse of a US citizen in removal proceedings who had failed to apply for her Green Card in a timely manner after marrying on a K-1 fiance' visa. The client was placed in removal proceedings and was required to appear before a judge in the Boston Immigration Court. The client found herself in removal proceedings after a routine traffic stop - something that happens more and more frequently in today's immigration climate.
Outcome: Attorney Daneu successfully argued the case for the client's adjustment of status and was able to have the removal proceedings terminated, while obtaining permanent resident status for her client.
Stay of Removal - Release from ICE Custody
Practice Area: Immigration Law
Description: A client with an outstanding order of deportation from 2007 was picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and placed in a local House of Corrections. He required specialized medical care and was concerned about a prolonged stay in a prison facility and deportation to his home country which is rife with struggle and has little access to health care.
Outcome: Attorney Daneu facilitated the client's release from ICE custody after the client had been ordered removed from the US. Through careful documentation of the client's serious medical condition, Ms. Daneu was able to obtain a stay of deportation/removal for six months to allow the client to continue receiving needed medical care and avoid deportation and prolonged incarceration.
