Patrick B. Dillon was born in Oelwein, Iowa and grew up as part of a diversified family farm operation and graduated from Sumner Community Schools. He resides near Sumner in a refurbished 1880’s farm house and actively farms with his family.
Mr. Dillon is a member of the Sunset Community Theatre Board of Directors, Farm Bureau, American Legion Post Number 317 (Volga City, Iowa), and his local Catholic Church, Immaculate Conception of Sumner. Mr. Dillon serves on the NE AHEC Advisory Board and advises numerous local community organizations.
LEGAL TRAINING Following active duty service in the United States Army, Mr. Dillon was awarded a Dwight D. Opperman Scholarship to Drake University.
Mr. Dillon graduated with high honors from Drake and entered private practice in Northeast Iowa.
Mr. Dillon is admitted to practice in Iowa state courts, the Federal Northern and Southern Districts Iowa, and the United States Military Court of Veterans Appeals. He practices regularly in Bremer, Clayton, Chickasaw and Fayette County courts.

UNDERGRADUATE WORK: Patrick Dillon is a 1997 graduate of Iowa State University where he obtained a B.S. in Agricultural Studies with distinction. Additionally, Mr. Dillon was a member of the Iowa State Reserve Officer’s training program, where he was awarded the distinguished military graduate honor. He served as the cadet commander of all Army ROTC Students his final year. He was also the Pershing Rifles Company G-2 Commander (Sharpshooting and Tactics) which included members of all three ISU ROTC programs. Dillon also served as a member of the color guard for Iowa State Varsity Athletic events.
MILITARY SERVICE Mr. Dillon was commissioned as an Army Officer upon graduation from Iowa State University. Following graduation in the top ten of his Transportation Officer Basic Course, he served as a platoon leader in 513th Transportation Company and 40th Transportation Company, Fort Lewis Washington. He was then selected to command the highly deployable 22d Transportation Detachment (Trailer Transfer). Following that successful command, he was selected over his peers and senior officers to command the 513th Transportation Company as a first lieutenant. The 513th was responsible for transporting materials and equipment along the entire western United States in support of I Corps military operations. He was the 1999 Fort Lewis Transportation Officer of the year. Following successful command of the 513th, First Lieutenant Dillon was selected to serve as a protocol officer at Fort Leavenworth, where he coordinated out of country general officer level visits to post and supervised the visits of three and four star generals to the post, to include the Chief of Staff of the Army. Upon transfer to the Reserves to pursue his law degree, Captain Dillon served as the Transportation Team Officer in Charge for the 1/383d Training Support Battalion. His duties including ensuring readiness for US Army Reserve and National Guard Transportation Companies in the states of Iowa and Nebraska. He also was deployed to Fort Polk, LA to serve as an Observer controller in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His awards include Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC) and the Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC).

Ethan D. Epley grew up on his parents’ crop and livestock farm between Shell Rock and Waverly Iowa. He is a 1998 graduate of Waverly-Shell Rock High School. Currently Ethan resides with his family in Waverly and is still actively involved in the family’s farming business. Legal Training: Mr. Epley attended Drake University Law School in Des Moines Iowa. While in law school he was elected Vice President of the Drake Agricultural Law Association and held a position as a research editor for the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law. During law school he worked at the Beginning Farmer’s Center located in Urbandale, Iowa where he worked on farm succession planning. Ethan graduated with honors from Drake University Law School in 2009 and was awarded a certificate in Food and Agricultural Law. Ethan practices primarily in Butler, Bremer, Floyd, and Franklin county courts. Publications:
