Gary Cardinal, Member of Cardinal Law Office

Born and raised in Reno, Gary graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1976, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.  He attended the McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, earning his Juris Doctor in 1980.

Mr. Cardinal began his law career serving as Law Clerk for the Hon. Peter I. Breen, District Judge of the Second Judicial District Court in Washoe County, Nevada.  After completing his clerkship with Judge Breen, he served for several years as Deputy District Attorney in the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office, prosecuting cases in the Criminal Division.

From 1984 to 2008, Mr. Cardinal was in private practice with the prestigious Reno insurance defense firm of Erickson, Thorpe & Swainston, Ltd, serving as President of the firm from 2000 to 2008.

In 2008, Gary Cardinal opened the Cardinal Law Office, accepting cases in the areas of Personal Injury and Wrongful Death, Family Law, Insurance Law, General Civil Litigation, Arbitration and Mediation.

Mr. Cardinal is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the State Bar of California, the Washoe County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  Past affiliations have included the Defense Research Institute, the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada, and the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern Nevada, for which he served as President from 1988 to 1989.
