A K3 visa is a type to bring a spouse of a United States citizen into the country on a nonimmigrant type of basis. This visa allows the individual access into the United States as they await the completion of their immigration process. As a spouse is considered to be a legally wedded husband or wife, there are certain criteria that must be met and fulfilled to demonstrate that a couple is in fact married before a K3 visa is granted. K3 visas are granted to those individuals that show their marriage is legitimate and the must stay married for a period of two years for it to remain in effect.
