Insurance Lawsuits

Those who are victims of another person's negligence may file a civil lawsuit against the person they feel is responsible for their injury or loss. In doing so, the defendant's insurance company is often going to provide the defense for the defendant to some degree. This is why these cases are often called insurance lawsuits, since the plaintiff is in fact suing the defendant's insurance company for a settlement for their injury or loss. Typical cases include malpractice lawsuits, personal injury lawsuits, motor vehicle lawsuits and homeowner lawsuits. It is up to a court of law to determine if the insurance company or the defendant is responsible for the injuries or loss to the plaintiff.
