INS forms are usually the starting point in the immigration or naturalization process. Immigration & Naturalization Services (INS) used to be the branch of the government that handled all immigration issues across the country. However the INS no longer exists under that name or jurisdiction as it is now the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that handles all immigration and naturalization services and issues that may come up throughout the process. The forms that were previously handled and administered through the INS are now handled through the USCIS, but the intent and purpose is the same.
