Employment Discrimination Act

The employment discrimination act is more formally known as the Employment Non-Discrimination Act or ENDA. ENDA is a comprehensive bill put forth by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. If signed into law, ENDA will provide gay and lesbian individuals with protection from employment discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. The bill seeks to cover the same employers covered by the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Currently, twelve states have anti-discrimination policies devoted to the protection of gay and lesbian rights. This amounts to approximately 48% of the United States population.
