Civil Litigation

Civil litigation is a type of legal proceeding in which the individual is not facing criminal charges in this particular case, but rather a civil complaint often brought on by individuals. It is often a dispute between two or more people or businesses. Most civil litigation cases are based on money. Some examples of this type of lawsuit include personal injury cases, landlord and tenant disputes, and breach of contract cases. There may be a criminal trial proceeding as well, and the outcome of that trial does not have any bearing in terms of acquittal in a civil lawsuit. In most situations, it is best for the two parties to work out an agreement outside of court to avoid media and other unwanted attention.
