Breaking and entering, also known as burglary or housebreaking, is a crime that involves entering into a building with the intent of performing criminal activities. Generally, people who are charged with breaking and entering were attempting to steal something. Breaking is divided up into a few different categories. It can be the forceful entry into a building. It could also be entering a room without permission. Similarly, entering could be physically entering or using some type of tool to intrude on the property. Breaking and entering is considered a felony in the United States. Another form of breaking and entering is aggravated burglary, which is basically breaking and entering with a weapon. The amount of breaking and entering crimes in the United States has been steadily decreasing over the past two decades. It is no longer as big of a problem as it was, however it is still very prevalent.
