Like every other state in the country, North Carolina has its own laws concerning divorce. In order to get a divorce in the state, you must have grounds which include: the couple has been living apart of over a year, if a spouse is incurably insane, a spouse has abandoned the family, one spouse forces another out of the home, one spouse endangers the life of another, and a spouse uses drugs and alcohol recklessly.
