There are more than 5,000 active members and over 2,000 inactive members in the Iowa State Bar Association. 22.5% of Iowa attorneys are members of the Young Lawyers Division, which are under the age of thirty-six.

7% of the Iowa State Bar Association members are solo practitioners. 44% of lawyers practice in Iowa law firms with 2-5 members, while 21% of attorneys practice in Iowa law firms with 6-10 members. Another 28% practice in law firms with more than 10 members.
